KVUE: Texas Democrats condemn President Trump’s statements on birthright citizenship

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett stated that an executive order would not lead to a change to the Constitution.

“The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution mandates that ‘all persons born’ in the U.S. are U.S. citizens. While Trump may once again think he can ignore our Constitution and rule by Executive Order, he can be restrained. Even a Republican-dominated Supreme Court cannot change ‘all’ into ‘some’ or deny that refugees are people,” Rep. Doggett said. “The Master of Distraction continues to foment bigotry to distract from his failed agenda, hoping his base rhetoric will motivate his base.”
