Whether you made phone calls, knocked on the doors of your neighbors, sent emails encouraging friends and family to participate in this election, or made a financial contribution–you were a big part of this win and for that I am very grateful.
As I told those gathered in our celebrations in San Antonio and East Austin Tuesday night, this is a victory for working families. We have overcome Rick Perry and his crooked map that tried to pit one community against another, and told him–in emphatic fashion–that we can pick our own representative in Congress.
I recognize the need to remain a strong voice for our many neighbors across Central Texas upon whom Perry has imposed anti-public education, anti-choice, anti-immigrant, anti-environment, and anti-most everything Tea Party-allied rule by splitting up predominately Democratic neighborhoods and connecting them with distant Republicans. Let’s work together on behalf of all of our Democratic nominees for victory in November and better government thereafter.
