Last time I was at American YouthWorks, I spoke of one young women, who had a difficult childhood. Rightly proud of her role in AYW building a new handicapped accessible trail in the Zilker Botanical Gardens, she spoke of her satisfaction with being able to show her son a wall that she had built with her own hands. That’s what AYW does–it helps build character as it helps build lasting contributions to our community. At this event, I presented its founder with an American flag for his work. It is a privilege to help honor its life-changing work.
