Standing up for education has been one of my top priorities in Congress. I believe that students should be able to receive all of the education for which they are willing to work. I authored legislation to simplify financial aid forms, at the request of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, which recognizes that an educated workforce is vital to economic prosperity. During a press conference at the site of my old alma matter, Austin High, now a campus of Austin Community College, I joined student leaders from ACC, UT, St. Edwards, Huston Tillotson, and Texas State as well as the Austin Chamber to discuss our success on historic student loan reforms.
